why is is that there are only 2 species of monotremes? it makes no sense why only two are around. there were probably more in the past but got hunted down and noone documented them. there is also a possibility of dinosaurs existing not too long ago, being hunted down to extinciton without any records.

The moa was documented , it extinct very recent , there are bones of them (bones as in not fossilized)

There were flying reptiles people in Africa knew of them

yes but it makes no sense since there are toothed species in every kind excpet monotrems. i ssuspect there were teethed monotremes not long ago and got hunted down. there is no reason as to why they wouldnt survive

More like marsupial-placental ancestors -> less ecological niche , therefore more competition
