sometimes, it happens that you are in a situation where you have to choose between suffering and suffering a lot.
you wil suffer no matter what, so you are gonna go with the first option.
the situations arent always in your favor sadly. you think you have an opportunity but its scam.
but even then you would feel worse giving up because then you would be tortured by what ifs.
