I was brought up in a relatively religious (Muslim) / "high-moral" household. Was never religious though.

I can't tell enough, how ANY religion brainwashes you, robs you of identity and creativity. Imo, religion is pure cope.

When I observe / talk to religious people, they all seem like "fanatics," no matter the religion.

I'm not talking about spirituality/faith in general, just religion, especially the Abrahamic ones.

I'm generally pretty polite and courteous but I don't follow rules. I blow through most stop signs in broad daylight and throw all manner of trash from my moving vehicle. Finished with my large drink from Burger King? It's going right out the window. I don't even try to be discreet. I'll do it in broad daylight not caring about the cars behind me. I also chew tobacco and spit on the floor in the supermarket. I'm a little more discreet about that. Also, in the supermarket I let my kid run all over the place screaming and playing. When he says "Daddy" in the supermarket I'll loudly respond with something like "What's up dick head?" so everyone around can hear it and get pissed off.

You don't know why they're excessively apologizing or thanking you though, maybe they have some kind of trauma from their upbringing, trying to be a people pleaser because they don't want to be ostracized.

You can generally tell the difference when someone is moralfagging and genuinely just being very apologetic or thankful because of who knows what reason.
