Sony is great for video. Are you only fixated on Sony? Or looking at other brands. Like Olympus etc are good. Or Fuji

About a $1000 less where I live, also it’s more compact, more ideal for travelling/vlogging which I may do eventually.

Yeah, I agree that A7IV is overkill for the average consumer but photography is just a hobby for me so if I have the means why not go.

I even considered Fuji GFX50r medium format but the autofocus seems too slow and no IBIS or 4K video.

Nah. Photography is just a hobby. Some other guys spend way more on cars for example, while I don't spend a dime on cars because I don't need one.

I've heard it is good but IDK how you'd justify a $3000 purchase for something casual. If you are buying such a high-end camera you should be making money off of it.

Hobbies can cost. People spend money like that or more on cars, travel, computers, etc. other hobbies.

I know but cars, watches are more like assets. You show them off to friends,gives you status etc. Cameras are more like professional tools for artists but you do you. If it makes you happy buy it.

Cars depreciate way more than cameras. If you buy a 4000 camera, you might sell it for 2000 some years later. With cars, the price depreciates more.
