Here's the context: The guy is supposed to be Tyson from the All American Rejects when he was in high school. For reference, here's a picture of him from their high school demo tape (yeah, CDs were a thing at one point )

How shocking you listen to CDs.

I don't own any CDs anymore (nor do I even own a CD player). Yet when I was in middle school (and part of high school), this oldcel had a walkman.

There used to be a CD scam where an ape on the street would offer you his CD "for free." Yet then when you agreed to take the CD just to shut him up, he'd then say he's accepting donations (and it quickly became clear he won't give you the CD unless you pay him). You'd then have to come up with excuse after excuse before he'd finally take the hint you don't want to buy his CD.

With how unpopular CDs are now, I'm glad the CD scam has died down.
