In South America its more a very small minority of gangs/cartels are hyper violent and do like 80% of the crime. So its highly concentrated. The society as a whole still functions.

In Africa their are constant civil wars, government coups, and no real stability.

In mexico while the cartels have a ton of power the government ultimately just allows it. They cracked down hard whenever they did hits in the capital city and against public shootouts with random civilians, so their is some semblance of control. Journalists also while they get murdered a lot, they cracked down on that crime and many hit men now are avoiding journalists hits.

It is possible in most parts of mexico, Brazil to be safe especially in state capital areas. But in Africa the same can't be said. Its in a state of disarray.

Its heavily concentrated north of rio in Brazil. The areas above Rio have highly concentrated black and Hispanic populations , so naturally crime is high.

Rio has similar demographics to texas and arionza and california. And its hyper violent cartel like gangs in the slum areas. Not saying its anywhere safe as america, but like mexico their are plenty of areas with extremely low crime as the government has made a strong effort in certain areas.

Southernmost Brazil is 80%+ white and has crime rates similar to europe and america.

What you are doing is exaggerating the instability in Africa while understating the instability in South America and explaining the context behind it that you previously ignored with Africa

yes coups and civil wars are still happening but most of them are very localized and much of Africa isn’t in civil war or experiencing constant coups. It’s not the Cold War Era or the 2000s. Africa is still mostly a shithole but parts have improved a bit.

If someone sees this map of "ongoing conflicts" he will think "wow all of Africa is a war zone" :

but take Nigeria for instance. Is there an ongoing conflict? Yes. In the whole country? No. The "ongoing conflict" is the boko haram thing in North East Nigeria and around the Lake Chad in general. If you went to Lagos or Port Harcourt you would never realize there is an "ongoing conflict" in Nigeria. It’s localized.
Then there is Cameroon. Same thing. It's not in the whole country, only Western Cameroon(affected by Ambazonia war) and the Far North(affected by Boko Haram and farmer-herder conflicts).
