That's true but it's gone insane nowadays and hypergamy in every possible sense. Before it was socio-economic hypergamy - women wanting to marry someone of a high social class. It was quite common to see ugly guys who were accomplished with girls.

This hasn't really gone away despite the fact that women are mogging men in education and up the career ladder. They still want a richer guy than them - which historically makes sense but does not today. The extra added element today is looks hypergamy which has become prevalent due to social media and OLD meaning average women can swipe 9999+ guys after opening an account and choose the tallest, best looking one.
