Many people don't know this but Spain actually considered those places kingdoms that are ruled by the King of Spain. This is why they intermaried with the locals and didn't forbide any cultural practises except those that went againts catholicism. Also Spanish Nation didn't even exist until the the 18th century, there were different realms that were consider the personal property by the King like Grenada, Castile, Leon, Aragon, Flanders, Burgundy, Mexico, Columbia etc.

Yup, The Spanish actually made the land in America into their own Realms/Kingdoms, where stuff produced and made there, stayed there. Soldiers, Farmers, Culture were all a mix of spaniard-german-native, it was a melting pot. The Original plan of the Spanish Catholics were to transfrom the Americas into catholic kingdoms that speak the same language but still retain their culture. This is why you would see very different architecture, culture, mentality in those places then in Spain. They were self governing

English and French places were actually colonies, they basically wanted to make those places like huge lands of resource exploitation that shiped and answered directly to the British or French elite, and spread their own people while killing of anything unfamiliar

In a way, the whole plan was the looting of gold and then mestizaje came along. The plan was to turn all the amerindians into pure blooded Spaniards, so race mixing started and that's where most racial castes come from

Of course they were colonies, they didn't have the same rights as the provinces in Spain, only people born in Spain could get high-rank positions in the colonies, and the colonies couldn't even trade with each other (only with Spain).

The colonies had to fight for their independence, if they weren't colonies, this wouldn't have been necessary.

But that isn't colonialism actually, thats just the natural thing that all empires did, mixing isn't "evil". The Persian, Arab, Ottoman, Russian empires all encouraged mixing with the local population so that loyalty increases to the King.

Colonies like from the English functioned way differently, they consider the natives like less then even side characters, it was only about enriching the country back home

Napoli, and the Spanish Netherlands also didn't have the same rights as the mainland, this was done cause of the need of centraliation. It worked like this in all land empires that were centralized, where the more peripheral lands wpuld have less rights. The only thing thay makes the Spanish Empire look colonial is that they were separated by water

Ofc they were colonies just because they weren’t settlement colonies like britisg and french NA doesn’t mean they weren’t colonies, they were colonies like Africa was, the natives were subjugated and enslaved (encomiendas)

No and no, slavery was forbidden in the Spanish realms of america, it was only present in renegade activities in the Caribbean islands because those places where controled by trade companies. Thays why the only black people thay exist in the spanish places is in porto rico

The natives weren't enslaved in the americas

The Spanish Empire was no different then the Ottoman Empire. Can you tell me the difference between the Spanish and Ottomans? You definitely couldn't

They weren't made to work on plantations for trade companies like in the english regions. The blacks in Venezuela and Colombia were almost all house servents, and they intermaried with spaniards and the natives, there wasn't a racist system like in French and England. The Spanish didn't have chatel slavery, they had similar slavery like the Ottoman Empire
