Spitting out blood

I popped a pimple near my lip and then my mouth tasted like blood and I started spitting out blood
Does anyone know why this happens? It has happened before but this time I spat out quite a bit of blood so I’m curious if anyone knows

Blood vessels near the lips can bleed a good amount. The blood probably mixed with your saliva after a vessel broke.

How deep and vascular the pimple is matters too
