I’m currently working on growing my tennis coaching business in New Zealand and would really appreciate some advice from people who’ve been in a similar position or have experience in coaching, sports businesses, or client acquisition.

Right now, I’m looking to:

  • Get more consistent clients (both beginners and intermediate players)
  • Build a strong local reputation
  • Potentially scale beyond just 1-on-1 coaching (group sessions, clinics, etc.)
I’m especially interested in what’s actually worked for you — whether that’s marketing strategies, partnerships, pricing models, or ways to stand out in a competitive space.

A few specific questions:

  • What’s been your most effective way of getting new clients?
  • How did you build trust/reputation early on?
  • Any tips for retaining clients long-term?
  • Is social media worth focusing on for this niche?
Open to any insights, even if they seem small. Appreciate any help 🙌

bump.

The most important thing would probably be good word of mouth and training people you know (especially kids, so their parents will spread the word). Beyond that, look into making a lot of social media content and eventually scaling to Facebook ads targeting your area specifically.

Online consulting and film review is also a good way to make extra money without having to meetup with a client.
