Both are fairly rated. It isn't fair to say Pelé isn't an all-time great because he played in a "weaker" era. He was considered the best at that time. Truth is, football was a lot harder. Only thing that has improved is tactical understanding, players now are worse than ever

Dismissing a player's legendary performance because of "favoritism" is retarded as fuck.
As a football fan, I admit that we're extremely retarded. Some people like you lack critical thinking
Could add more context to what I said tbh and I understand why you say that. But either to clarify it feels like he just got too much favoritism but he was good

Sorry lol, I take back what I said. I thought you'd try to reply with retarded arguments

I watched all of Argentina's games, and I understand the frustration because there was some controversial calls but you just need to more open-minded. But to say Argentina cheated their way through the WC is dumb. They clearly were amazing, despite not playing great the 1st half for most matches

It’s all good no worries but honestly not even just this World Cup but even at club level. I feel like the amount of decisions gone his way has exceeded possible coincidences.

(Can't rep I've reached the limit) We could say this about every club/player. Italian clubs are the dirtiest historically, but nobody really talks about them. Most controversies are called out against Messi because it's a fierce rivalry between him and Cristiano. It's super nitpicked. And I'm sure you've seen the insane agenda against Messi on X or TikTok. It's mostly propaganda, a little research and context and you'd see everything clearly. The Chelsea game in 2009 is also never contextualised, for example

I don't condone cheating, but refuting elite players with an argument like favoritism doesn't really work. I mean, does anybody care about Maradona's hand of god? Not really, because he was exceptional. No amount of cheating can make someone play like him. Sure it'll earn you trophies and rewards unjustly, but they are not a good metric for comparing abilities, traits and performances

To a degree yes that’s fair but even then it just stains the players legacy whether they had influence in it or not. After 2015 Messi ofcourse was getting numbers but failed in Europe/internationally and also had those decisions go w him. But I can agree some is propaganda and it can be made the case for anyone

Agreed, but the 2015 claim is just factually false messi had insane tournaments after 2015 internationally, especially 2016 CA, 2021 CA and the last 2 world cups. he was also the best player in europe from 2016-2019, and yes cristiano doesn't get close despite his threepeat. i'd reason why rn but it's a long explanation
