Mental vomit incoming.

In an effort to reduce how autistic I seem, I've been playing a game of spot the autist in real life, so I can remove those traits from myself.

Honestly, it's surprising how easy it's becoming. Stimming is the most obvious one. Rocking back and forth and people opening and closing their legs repetitively are the most common along with hand flapping. Hell, I recently realized my best friend was pretty clearly on the spectrum, after seeing him rocking back and forth in a movie theatre for a good hour.

Gait is something I've noticed too. I instantly picked my dermatologist when I first saw him walk and the 15 mins of interaction after (he fucking charged me above $150 for those 15 mins) confirmed it for me.

I actually think it might be possible to fraud NT, because of how obvious autistic people are when you actively look for them. Sure Autistics can sometimes look slightly different, but it seems NT's can't spot an Aut from just a photo in the majority of cases (they can in a minority).

"But what about the studies that say that NT's can pick an autistic person within 10 seconds of conversation"
I think those studies are heavily impacted by bias in regards to them only using the more severely socially stunted autists. The reason I suspect that is because how bad shrinks are at diagnosing autism. Like kids can be getting bullied mercilessly for being odd (read:autistic) but shrinks won't be able to place them until they are well into their adulthood. Hell a girl I was talking to would literally almost bark when she was in uncomfortable situations (basically vocal stimming) and could not maintain eye contact with anyone, yet she had been to numerous shrinks throughout her childhood with no diagnosis to show for it.

okay, so don't rock back and forth. would you also recommend ditching velcro shoes?

gait and speech tone/decibel variation are the most brutal ones, nothing can be done about them and people pick em up within seconds

weird blinking and discordinated robotic movements are other indicators that someone is autistic.

I actually think gait can be fixed with a lot of effort. The military has a bunch of autists yet they can be made to march normally.

Tone/decibel variation is the real pain in the ass.

military disqualifies any diagnosed tist immediately. gait is muscle tone and is only decently fixable with ritalin

I've gotten much better at social interaction, but apparently it's still obvious that I'm "on the spectrum" in longer or group conversations.
