This thread will be updated, on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis.

10.05.2025 - start. purchased standing desk.

1 - 3 days.
  • Foot soreness.
  • When you're standing, your heart works harder to push blood upward against gravity — including into your arms, i guess. This can cause more blood to flow into your upper limbs. My arms all full of veins, as if I done 50-100 push ups. Just veins, not muscle pump.
  • I've become more aware of my posture. I realized that you can actually train it while standing. By 'train', I mean you can sort of configure your body to stay straighter and more aligned. You'll notice the effects of this 'training' right away when you go for a walk — your posture will be straighter, and your shoulders slightly pulled back.

How much money did you spend for your desk?

Another alternative is sitting on the floor with your knees.

good evening. i have spent around $80. But it is the man-made one. static height - just classic table with high height(130cm in my case).

3 - 14 days.
  • Foot soreness is still present but much reduced.
  • Avoid standing on one leg — knee pain.
  • Posture has improved. It used to require little conscious effort despite being good; now it's mostly automatic.
  • Sleep quality is up — soreness helps you fall asleep faster and earlier.
  • Raise your monitor with some books. If your jaw angle isn’t slightly above 90 degrees(by the way, the higher your monitor placed, the better), expect neck problems soon.

Ah nice okay, if you dont mind the question, where did you get it from? 80$ seems quite cheap/like a good deal

i am not living in the usa or uk. i advise you to find some local carpeneter. he will do the job. it also gives flexibility; you can choose the color, storage shelf etc.

by the way, do not be insulted, but you should have written "$80", not "80$"

but be sure that you are physically active person, otherwise, i guess, the pain for the first 3-7 days can be intolerable.

This rule applies to all currencies - using a symbol before the number. it is a standard

15 days - one month.
  • No discomfort whatsoever in the knees while standing. It took so much time to adapt, probably because I, on average, walk 10 km per day (maybe even more). My knees had sufficient stress on them, and putting in extra effort demanded more time. But if one is not active like me, I suppose it would take around 8–14 days to fully adapt (it took me exactly 26 days).
  • You might feel pain in the outer or back part of the knees while walking. But again, it can only happen if you, like me, stand for 5+ hours and also walk a ton. But my knees got through even from it, so no worries.
  • I noticed that I started to walk way faster. Right now, I do not have any clue why it happened. But I feel that my walking is faster than someone's actual running. Moreover, I do not feel that speed — I walk fast effortlessly and without any awareness of it.
  • Now let's reason a little bit. A standing desk demands more water intake, and you will notice that you are intaking more water without even consciously thinking about it. More water => frequent urgency to pee.
  • The only issue with a standing desk is that it becomes a habit to stand on a single leg.

if you have any question, feel free to ask!

By the way. You will become much more productive. Just because you do not want to stand just for fun and to listen to something. You do not want to mess around. you open your pc, work/study, and then you shut it down. you do not think about something extra - movies, youtube etc etc.
