They're all either 15 years old, or indian, or autist. Either way their opinions don't matter.

Vending machines can be a nice source of passive income once you get it all set up, the brutal thing is that you have to restock it regularly and collect the money every so often, which sucks but once you grow your business and get more set up then you can pay someone to do it for you. All in all it's not so different from starting any other business, maybe slightly less work.

It'll take a few thousand to set up the business probably which means it'll take a while for you to run a profit, but the initial investment in the machines is a one time purcase(once you buy the machines you never have to again).

One final thing is keep track of what sells, if you have an item that sells out in days, and one that never sells out, buy way less of the latter and more of the former.

It is hard to mess it up bad with vending machines unless you buy them on credit. Overall, most important would be the location. If you have friends with a nice business retail area or inside a gym or somewhere where kids would hang out and if you account for insurance and the risk that it might get damaged by assholes then it might make sense. However, I personally don't see it as a very high value added endeavour and wouldn't go for it myself
