Starting my new Pokemon journey tomorrow!

Will be playing Pokemon Platinum, and a new variation of Nuzlocke rules where I can only capture the first Pokemon I encounter on any new route or area, have to release my starter after I've caught 6, and this time I will raise 12 Pokemon at the same level, switching them in and out to maintain equal levels as I progress.

I'm so excited!

Just some rules to make the game harder or different, it's nothing set in stone. Some of the rules they suggest I'd never do, like having to release your Pokemon if it ever faints. That would become annoying for me.

Do they make the game reasonably challenging and interesting to engage? Pokemon games seem to be designed for 6-10 year old kids otherwise (not counting online play).
