Based on my friends in investing seats (PE/VC/GE) and retainer M&A pipeline/corp dev work I've had dumped on my lap from large-cap clients. Have seen some pretty dumb/misguided threads on here about "muh startup idea rate pls".

• Barriers to Entry / Sustainable Moats

Ex: Network Effect, Economies of Scale, Lock-in Effect, R&D, Regulatory Environment

BAD Example: GPT wrapper (Ex: UMAX AI App, Calorie Tracker AI App).

GOOD Example: Restaurant/Foodie Review Social App (network effect, lock-in effect as community-generated reviews can't be duplicated by new entrants)

• High Margins / Easily Scalable

BAD Example: Mowing lawns, shovelling snow (1:1 unit of labour to revenue ratio, broadly speaking - tough to automate, hard to hire people to shovel more/faster in a given timeframe)

GOOD Example: Automated AI onlyfans girls bots on Instagram (degen af idea ik haha, but easy to scale and set up Python scripts to automate posts, stories and DM replies, mix in with AI posts on their OnlyFans which is linked in each bot's bio)

• Not Easily Sidetracked / Purely Business

BAD Example: Starting a college bar/club (you will waste money on giving hot girls free drinks or free entry to try to impress/sleep with them, same with hiring bartenders that are absolute shit but are hot and you want to sleep with them)

GOOD Example: Consulting on AI implementation for legacy mom-and-pop shops (local plumbing company, local thrift shop, etc)
