They get away with it because all their other halos, this in turn makes their "falio" unique and this is good for modeling as it's eye catching not because its attractive.

for example my failios are jaw asymmetry and gonial angle. let's say that i fixed that 2 things.
i morph myself to understand what i need, in this case only side wing & implants fits my face.
then i calculate other ratios even if they are not failios.
for example, my mouth /nose ratio is 1,3 which is under best. so i also try to calculate model's mouth/nose ratio and compare myself again.
it's the best way to understand how attractive you're , it's not cope.
