there is 100x as much info than when I was growing up so people can legit inform themselves which is an immense advantage. motivation comes from proof, knowledge, hope and subsequent results. the current state is significantly more conducive to improvement than 15 years ago when every advice boiled down to "it's genetics bro just wagiemax"
