Somebody pulling $30K a month and somebody pulling $3K a month? They’re not that different. Almost every job on earth is one of four things: prostitute, robber, thief, or con artist. LEARN OR STAY BEHIND!
1. The prostitute model.
The customer wants to pay you. You name a price, they see what they’re getting, and they hand you the money. Barber: $30. DoorDash: $5. A coder charging by the hour. Cleanest model. Also the most miserable. You’re selling time and energy, and both of those have a cap. A barber can only cut so many heads. A driver can only drop so many bags. A coder can only stare at a screen for so long. The ceiling is right there. The client already knows what it “should” cost, so you can’t even mark it up. That’s why people in this model either open a chain, build a factory, or work themselves to death 24/7. They’re trading their life for a check. America has like 60 million gig workers. Most of them are stuck in this. Not lazy. Just trapped selling hours.
2. The robber model.
They gotta pay you even if they hate it. You own the gate. HOA. Parking. Tolls. Hospital fees. Test fees. You don’t like the service? Too bad. You live there, you park there, you’re driving that road. The core of it: lock down a scarce thing and control who gets in. They’re going to curse you out, then still pay. The parking industry is making billions, and all they did was fence some dirt and say “pay or get towed.” That’s why this is smarter than the prostitute model. You ain’t standing for 12 hours. You control the resource and collect. Some people are broke because they’re busy. Some people get rich because they’re idle.
3. The thief model.
They don’t even know they paid. You think you’re on TikTok for 3 hours for free. Nah. Your time, your eyes, and your data already got sold to advertisers. Free maps, free email, free socials — you feel like you’re winning. Meanwhile, your habits, what you buy, and who you talk to already got sold a bunch of times. You think you’re the user. You’re the product. Zuck said it: if you’re not paying, you’re not the customer. A robber at least lets you know you got taxed. A thief doesn’t even let you notice. Digital ads? Hundreds of billions. That money came from you sitting on your phone “relaxing.” You’re working for the app for free.
4. The con artist model.
They think they chose to pay. You designed that choice. The shirt “was” $199, now it’s $59. You feel like you saved $140. The shirt cost $10 to make. Fake high price, then a “deal.” Gym: “$300 for 6 months. That’s like a coffee a day.” You swipe. You go 3 times. Never again. The money is already gone. Online courses, memberships, “limited” drops, deposits — same play. Make it feel like your decision. Anchoring: they show you a crazy high number first so the cheaper number feels like a W. You paid voluntarily. The script was written for you.
How money actually works: mix all four.
Prostitute model = sell time and skill. Stable. Low ceiling.
Robber model = own the gate. Lie down and collect.
Thief model = take attention and data they don’t see.
Con artist model = play the gap in their head so they talk themselves into paying.
You think the $100K-a-month people are grinding harder than you? NOPE! They’re just switching models. Real operators use the prostitute model to get trust, the robber model to lock clients in, the thief model to pull traffic, and the con artist model to raise what each person spends.
Regular people stay in the prostitute model their whole life. Hours for dollars. The model isn't evil. The ceiling is just tiny. The jump is to stop trading time and start designing how the money moves. Resources beat hustle. Info gaps beat labor. Attention beats the product.
Learn these four and you’ll finally see how the game is actually set up.
