I think it's because irl the subconscious knows it's interacting with another human so it supresses the autism, whereas there's no filter on the internet (pure unconscious autism in it's rawest form)

You're only spotting the autists deep enough on the spectrum to be visible to your naked eye probably as some cope because people don't instantly register you as an autist therefore making you not autistic (not calling you autistic)?

There's definitely a body language and uncanny voice, aspie grey area that normies will struggle to spot at first glance

Online spaces naturally exude autism, people talk about niche topics and assume everyone else is on board. It creates a bias. I don't think it's just about suppressing it subconsciously, there just isn't a reason to suppress it online.

If you typed the way you'd actually speak in real life, it'd be way easier to LARP as an NT online. But there's no reason to do that.

Should've specified that OP was in reference to intentionally trying to larp as nt when interacting with IRL friends with reputation and status at stake (ie on discord or instagram), not anonymous online message boards - The internet comment just being an observation

Oh, I see. Yeah, then the mask definitely slips a bit more more online.

I wouldn't call it larping, tho. I think they just act a bit more like themselves online, while in IRL, the abused dog is a bit aloof and holds back.
