Study shows breastfeeding increases facial dimensions, including height of the lower 3rd

Actually someone just needs to build dummies for the bottles that are even more difficult to suck than breast. Then these babies will get even bigger skulls than breastfed and woman can keep their breast shape.

does the material of the pacifier make a difference? it used to be latex, now it's silicone mostly.

There is also a dose effect shown: the longer you breastfeed, the more your child's face will grow. These are 4-year-olds on average, though (2...6yo-s). What will happen with this difference in adulthood?
Quite a brutal redpill to swallow to those who were bottlefed.
breastfed for 2 weeks…

Just noticed that the ones who weren't exclusively breast fed were artificially fed which means formula, not breast milk. Could it be that formula feeding can cause lack of growth actually due to lack of some growth factors, hormones, minerals and proteins perhaps, not because of lack of movement of the mandible?

Why investigate this, when your skull has literally finished developing, jfl

To cope or rope. Realizing your inferiority to others is a strong and interesting experience.

It's just sad, in my opinion

Might be that latex is better than silicone, because older studies showed that the movement while sucking a bottle is the same as sucking the breast. And in the old times pacifiers were made of latex only I think.

https://europepmc.org/article/MED/31908144

" The findings of this review revealed that healthy term bottle-feeding infants use similar tongue and jaw movements, can create suction and sequentially use teat compression to obtain milk, with minimal differences in oxygen saturation and SSB patterns, when compared with breastfeeding infants. "

"The majority of the studies concluded that healthy term
bottle-feeding infants use similar tongue and jaw movements compared with breastfeeding infants when obtaining milk during a feed
(Ardran et al., 1958; Geddes et al., 2012; Goldfield et al., 2006; Nowak
et al., 1994; Weber et al., 1986)."

The argument is that for breastfeeding you need to squeeze the milk out and bottlefeeding is like just drinking and letting it flow or even having to stop the too fast flow. But this is not the case obviously with all kinds of teats.

It seems like the authors had difficulty making up their minds.
No significant association was found between the type or duration of breastfeeding and the facial type, anteroposterior, and vertical profiles.
It is clear that the presence and duration of adequate breastfeeding do not determine a facial biotype; however, the lack of breastfeeding did affect children’s facial dimensions, a situation that must be taken into account by clinicians, parents, and health authorities to stimulate children craniofacial growth and development

You would think that 3+ mm in advancement for multiple dimensions would lead them to conclude that breastfeeding did influence facial types and profiles.

So it doesn't cause malocclusions or deformities, but it does cause just lack of growth. Showed this study to a maxillofacial surgeon and they agree.

That's ridiculous. The difference maker is that human milk is unpasteurized. A mother would chew raw meat and put it in the child's mouth, which would give him more nutrients than milk could. When you have a child every year, you can't be breastfeeding one for too long.
Of course if you gonna go from milk to a bottle of sugar or even cooked meat it's better to stay with the milk. And if you really insistent on milk, goat milk is very close to human.
someone claimed hunter gatherer did it for 5-6

Imagine telling the wife that she's supposed to chew raw meat in her mouth and then put it into the child's mouth. She'll think it's mental.

An even newer study from the year 2023 showing that bottle-fed babies had bigger skulls: https://www.iasj.net/iasj/download/58c379799344e3c9
But it was done on 4--9-month-olds.
