Every friend I know with a fat mom has relatively wide hips/waist, can’t lean down below 15%bf, yoyo diets and is unathletic af

On the other hand, they usually also have wider frame and higher muscle mass

It seems like his lifestyle habits have a role in it too. I am sure they can change
