the concept of the arrival fallacy made so much sense when i ascended and reached a looks level younger me wouldve killed and dreamed to be
you get that initial dopamine hit and then boom you get used to it and bored of it
it works similarly to how men dream of pulling pretty girls but when it happened with me it wasnt as good as i thought either and i left scratching my head questioning myself "is this really it"
it makes so much sense as well when you look at studies showing lottery winners are not that much happier after and before winning the lottery
and how a lot of famous and successful celebs who "made it" are not as happy as people may think
the point is to try to achieve your goals and dreams but dont set your expectations too high and expect it to fulfill you and fill in that gap in your soul
living your life in the waiting room is a recipe for mental torture because it just leads to disappointment
the Pixar movie Soul explores this concept as well where joe achieves his dreams of becoming an established jazz musician only to feel empty because he was postponing his happiness
achieving your goals and dreams mainly brings comfort and satisfication more than euphoria and everlasting happiness from what ive realized
its still more of a good thing than bad thing but just dont expect it to make you feel the way you think it would
