substances and ND correlation

why are NDs so much more prone to substance abuse than NT people. with me it was used to quiet my scattered thoughts and minor psychosis. thankfully my use has dropped a bit since going through a sort of rehab and starting meds but i also don’t want to be heavily medicated so im slowly going back to prominent use. NDs let me know why you use substances.
