I was talking with a guy who works at a lumber mill that my job sends me to. He told me that they only hire new people through a temp agency, they don’t accept applications from the public anymore. If the temp workers do well enough they get hired for full time with benefits.
This reminds me of all the people on here and elsewhere who say that their applications always get rejected. For a lot of jobs I could see this becoming more and more common. An increasing number of businesses won’t wanna spend the time, effort, and money on vetting and hiring random people when they can be sent to them by an agency that does all that work.
Because with places that still do accept online applications, they get bombarded with so many that are fake/spam, from a third world country, or something else seriously wrong with them that that’s part of why they never call legitimate applicants back.
The other option if you’re still in school would be to go through programs that they might have. I just wouldn’t trust looking for a job on my own these days.
