Hey,

I'm not sure if this exists already, but are there websites that have data on the success rate of individual surgeons etc?

MY idea:
- Create a website that, for each clinic and procedure has a duplicate of their database of patient results and then let only .org users vote on how good the surgery was. Then make a ranking sytem, or at least an open dataset of how good individual doctors/clinics are for certain procedures so that you'd have a reliable source of data when deciding which surgeon to pick.

The issue: I dont really think clinics post botched surgeries or maybe they even omit surgeries they think don't look good enough. To counter this major flaw, we could create a system where documented botched cases could be added (some fag posting about it on reddit, user X from .org reaches out, gets docs and other verification stuff from him and then submits it to our rating site, where it'd then be added to the stats/data).

This could be a pretty nice tool for .org users who are looking to get surgery and should help give people realistic expectations in regards to improvement as well, since the surgery ratings would include how much the patient's PSL has changed (ΔPSL)

if everyone voted opposite, then it'd be easy to inverse no? lol, still im not sure how the ranking would be done, but it could only allow .org users with certain rep and rep ratio to vote, so the likelihood of trolling could be minimized. also, i dont think trolling by giving false ratings to surgeries is the most fun, so if you get like 100+ votes per patient, the result rating should be reliable enough.

The design would kinda be like tinder for surgeries, you'd just get a feed where you get somebody's pics, the operation and are asked to rate them, with comments explaining your rating. would be a fun activity ngl

Not everyone really, but it would really mess up ratings.Even if you put certain rep and ratios people are gonna troll. This is forum for fucking around(big part of it) and not serious like literal surgeries. But good idea kinda

yeah for sure. just not sure if the number of trolls would be so large that the troll responses wouldnt just be statistical outliers compared to the relatively honest majority. this would have to be tested tho

i am pretty sure there is a client secrecy in surgery so you will run into some legal trouble

i mean no? id do this from pics they publicly posted on their websites, many clinics have this

they get to post if they are allowed by the client, and only them(i think)
nah if the pics are public and you give credit to the clinic and dont use it for commercial purposes its fair game.

i get the intent behind your idea for a surgeon rating site, more transparency is always good

but it just wouldn't work, data scarcity is the primary problem

you won't get enough data even for positive results, most patients don't consistently report on experiences meeting expectations, only extreme cases post

clinics won't provide their own negative data for public display

bias is unavoidable and significant

you'd only see surface-level results, not the full medical picture or long-term health

.org ratings would heavily skew toward extremes, misrepresenting actual performance, site users lack the awareness for nuanced voting, reducing choices to simplistic "good" or "bad"

there's no clinical context, you can't differentiate between simple cases and highly complex ones with high-risk patients, judging outcomes without case difficulty is misleading and unfair to surgeons handling difficult procedures

the system would be too sparse on real data and too biased by subjective, incomplete views to be useful or fair
