When you cannot find a purpose or goal in life and eventually become desensitized to repeated quick dopamine you don't want to live anymore tbh.
It's kinda what a mid life crisis is. Many people by that age have just paid off all the things they have been working their entire life for and have a moment where they don't have a purpose.
Lots of people do kill themselves when they realize their life is meaningless and shit. For some people the things that keep them going are family and kids because they still have purpose in taking care of them.
