Gustaf Retzius, one of the most famous race scientists to exist. Nominee for a nobel prize numerous times, and one of the richest men in Sweden made a trip to Finland, Pälkäne, to steal 70 skulls from a church graveyard.

Retzius knew Swedes are tall skulled, and had concluded, that mongols have short skulls. The purpose of his trip was to prove that Finns were mongols and had shorter skulls than Swedes.
So, Retzius dug up 70 skulls from their graves and brought them to Sweden. However he was shook when the skulls were tall, and the trip had turned out to be a failure. There was but one logical conclusion, the 70 skulls dug up from Central Finland must've all been of Swedish Ancestry.

Since this trip, Finns have asked Swedes to return the skulls, but Swedes have refused, and they're being stored in Karolinska Institutet, prestigious Swedish university along with remains of several hundreds of other human remains used in Swedish race studies.

Back when I was in college here in Romania, it wasn't uncommon for medical students to buy and sell skulls, bones, whole skeletons, etc., there were no laws banning this, there were newspaper and online ads for human parts, some of these bones were of pretty dubious origin, most likely stolen from cemeteries or belonging to homeless people, I even borrowed a skull once from the university and brought it home with me to study it...
