Except nobody said that it's necessarily linear (i.e men and women IQ bellcurve). But yeah i think in general academic community including scientists are very liberal (or non-political) they do have more incentives to be left leaning. I just think american politics are pretty pointless and view it as entertainment. And i heavily doubt many actually smart people restrict themselves to be 'conservatists' or 'liberals'.
Yeah iq really has nothing to do with your political views id say. really high iq people will be liberal and other high iq people will be conservative or literally far right. Alot of it has to do with the culture you grew up with eg the way your mother raised you or the religion you were brought up in. Some people oppose their culture and others embrace it fully and the reasons why comes down to thousands of unkown variables no one can account for.
I don't think IQ means that much anyway, maybe it's a prerequisite to being smart to some level, but having like a somewhat high one doesn't mean anything itself. I just don't think any intelligent people in general are usually confined to any one way of thinking, especially ones that are largely societal.
