I recently discovered that there's an entire genre of romance manga aimed at girls. What's interesting is that, unlike romance novels, manga also tells a story through its visuals. Similar to romance novels the female protagonists are like blank slates so that the readers easily insert themselves in the place of them.

Women want depressed, tall, aesthetic, prettyboys who only have eyes for them.
