taking finasteride when 16

context: about 6'3 mid-good frame good facial bone development

not sure what i should do because ill definitely go bald by 17 if i stop taking finasteride but at the same time dead scared about stunting my facial development, help pls!!

ho iniziato a prendere finasteride alla veneranda età di 16 anni, consigliato da un dermatologo che ha detto che i capelli erano rovinati altrimenti (geneticamente)

contesto: circa 1,90 m, corporatura media-buona, buon sviluppo delle ossa facciali

non so bene cosa dovrei fare perché se smetto di prendere la finasteride diventerò sicuramente calvo entro i 17 anni, ma allo stesso tempo ho una paura fottuta di bloccare lo sviluppo del mio viso, aiutatemi per favore!!

se sei soddisfattoif you are happy with your facial structure height and dimorphism then why not , but keep in mind that DHT is quite important for body dimorphism and bone mass

finasteride will not work forever so you will eventually lose your hair, decide between 3 mm of bone or hair for an extra 10 years

I’d cope with topicals until 21 unless you visibly see it get worse. Then go straight to dut

1. 16 might be too young to start finasteride

2. at the same time finasteride / dutasteride are the only two drugs that can stop your androgenetic alopecia long term

it's a personal decision and ofc your dermatologist's in terms of prescribing it.

You will not go bald within a year, as you said in your post. It doesn't happen that fast.

Your fears over finasteride are what you should talk to your dermatologist about.

sure wouldnt go bald but itd definitely be noticeable, ill take your advice and go talk to my dermatologist tho

The only thing that might interfere with Finasteride's efficacy are suddenly elevated DHT levels like you could develop from roiding. Or if for genetic reasons your DHT is too high for finasteride to suppress sufficiently - for those rare cases there is Dutasteride.

And past your fourties you usually don't need Finasteride either way, since DHT automatically drops as we age past a certain point.
