Don't get me wrong, I also enjoyed it but the game didn't live up to its promise as a send-off for the trilogy.
Gotham is just upscaled Arkham City, and the jokeritis plotline was dumb.

My big issue with the plotline is that Arkham Knight just couldn't get out of the shadow of the Joker.
The trailers in the run up to its release promised a grand coalition of all Batman's enemies, working together to take him down.
During the course of the game, Scarecrow never really poses much of a threat and Batman is not pushed to the brink until the very end.

The basic premise of someone taking over the protagonist's mind is the same, yes.

Asylum is better.

I think Knight gets a lot more love from younger gamers who didn’t have any particular expectations attached to it because they didn’t play at release

No Batman basically ignores Joker until the very end of the game. There’s minimal interaction between the two.

I’ve only ever 100%ed Knight because the riddler is a prick.

The were far too many riddles in City for me to do it.
