In individualism, everyone has to look out for themselves.

But women can't be independent. They need to rely on others, so they rely on a man who shares his resources and protects her in exchange for her to be his woman. Thus women aren't able to form a harem around chad since chad can't provide for her and all the other girls. That way is fair, everyone gets something out of it.

In collectivism, everyone works toward the group. Women receive protection and resources from society at large, eliminating the need to give men anything in return since they're not relying a specific man, men at large are now supporting her indirectly through taxes and the state.
