2 weeks of this combo wiped out my skin texture, old acne scars, whiteheads

I also used good serums and stuff for skin barrier support

I was worried about the possible purging from the fearmongering here but i experienced no purging with the right habits and products

What was your experience with tazarotene specifically? I'm contemplating starting it but fearmongering aswell - also have decent skin as of now but slight small pimples around my chin, don't wanna descend accidentally

I had okay skin too in the fact that i didnt actually have huge inflamed acne breakouts, just occasional whiteheads but main issue was dullness, texture, and scarring

Tazarotene i used a literal pea sized amount, maybe a bit less, that was spread across my whole face

Experienced no noticeable purging maybe a tiny bit of irritation which caused a couple whiteheads

Make sure to use a great moisturizer like the dr althea 345 cream

Also use sandwich method with the tazarotene and moisturizer, and chill out on ingredients like niacinimide

What’s the benefit in combining the two?
What other serums did you use?
Routine?

Alright, more tempted to try it now.

And yeah that was the plan. I my routine is relatively mild, with the strongest i use is retinol for under eyes support and occasional serum with 30% AHA and 2% BHA. No idea if the crossover will do damage tho

Dont do the 30% aha 2% bha

I was also pretty hyped about it before getting the prescription for tazarotene and azelaic acid

But it wasnt rly worth it for me, didnt do much and just gave me more whiteheads

And especially do not use it when on taz + AA

You have it on prescription? I'm thinking Indiamart will be my route but idk if the quality is pharma - also how easy is it to get prescriped? I'm thinking you'd have to have horrible skin since it's a strong medication

Azelaic acid is anti inflammatory, it helps redness and irritation from acne

Its also anti bacterial and helps keeps acne away

Tyrosinase inhibitor too and helps acne marks

Tazarotene will bring your underlying skin issues out before you see improvement, making it faster/easier for the azelaic acid to get to work

Theres more detailed explanations why theyre synergetic on this forum; ik this combo has gotten popular recently on social media but its been around for a decade

I was surprised too they gave it on prescription, im from canada and covered under OHIP and the pharmacist at shoppers drug mart was absolutely goated which played a part

They gave me both taz and AA for free which is crazy even the pharmacist was surprised its covered, it wouldve been like $120+ otherwise

My pharmacist at shoppers drug mart didnt even bother with tret & got me taz and AA prescribed for free, normally wouldve had to pay $120+ for the 2 tubes

Taz is more effective, faster, and supposedly less irritating for some ppl too

Also i use the iunik beta glucan serum

Its rly rly nice, its very hydrating and soothing and beta glucan has barrier support properties or sum too; its overall better than hyaluronic acid serum

Mirin. The AA is OTC here in Denmark so i'll get that for now. Might seduce my old doctor just to get that taz:p

W its not OTC here for some reason

But pretty easy to buy it in lesser concentrations like 10% in serum from Anua

Im using the 15% azelaic acid cream rn
