I cant get my hands on any tazarotene rn, i was on it for 2 months and my acne is almost entirely gone with just some PIE and inflammation on the nose, if i switch from tazarotene 0.1% to tretinoin 0.05% (can get it locally w/o prescription) will my acne comeback or will it fuck my skin barrier?

Your acne is very unlikely to return immediately, and switching will not destroy your skin barrier if you transition carefully.

Because you are moving from tazarotene 0.1% (widely considered the most potent, aggressive topical retinoid available) to tretinoin 0.05%, you are actually stepping down in strength. Your skin has already built up a tolerance to a very powerful retinoid, so tretinoin 0.05% should feel relatively mild by comparison
