Facts, turns into a thing you have to plan for and actively think about once you don‘t see each other in school anymore.

I have a few friends that moved away and never bothered to plan things when they were visiting back home and then wondered why they didn‘t have any friends left.

Nobody even cares much about their actual friend group. If one friend can't joint a group event, but another one that wasn't expected to come can, the group won't even really care about the first friend that's missing. People care the same amount about you as you care about them.

The best friends of mine kind of dissapear and then return to my life from time to time, and each time we meet, we are on the same frequency.

If your personalities match, friendships can last a lifestyle even if the you two doesn’t meet in person for years.

On the other hand, I do believe the realistic window to make such friendships ends for the most part with college.

Not saying you cannot bond later on, rather meeting potential new friends is a numbers game and past your education you meet significantly less new people.
