tea bags have been researched to reduce levels of heavy metals (if you don't know they bad for you) in drinking water.
same with tea leaves without bags.
It isn't due to specific tea properties but rather that heavy metal particles tend to bind to tea leaves and be removed from the water once you strain it out/remove the teabag.
I thought i might relay this to you folks for it's probably helpful information.
