Most people don't even know what they like in music.
Lyrics is cope for majority people and what they actually like is the beat and instrumental, mostly to stay relevant.

Yea listen to classical stuff then.
Most people sleep on it cuz it sounds boring or too slow, but that's true melody.
They do suck on it occasionally when some famous artist uses that style and suddenly piano and violin is their favourite instrument.
