I am going to the dentist sometime soon just for a checkup.

For context, I was meant to be put on Invisalign (translucent braces without the train tracks) about 1.5 years ago for my crooked teeth but the orthodontist said not to because my jaw was still rapidly growing and didn't want to have it affect how the Invislign works. For extra context my teeth are far from pearly white.

When I go to the dentist what questions should I ask him and what procedures should I ask him for e.g should I ask to hop on Invisalign... or maybe even a palate expander. Teeth whitening??

Fuck whitening strips. Oil pulling is better and cheaper + doesn't damage your mouth. I used whitening strips and the fucked up my gums.

For teeth whitening the best natural lowcost way is to buy a good electric toothbrush and learn how to brush correctly. Every night you should floss your teeth, followed by mouthwash. Stuff like sugary sodas, cigarettes and coffee will stain your teeth.

You need to me making circular motions when brushing. Also make sure to really get into every nook and cranny. Inbetween every tooth, try to brush from both sides. That way, you cover much more ground. Also, remember to brush all the way at the root of the tooth where your gums begin.

Make sure to go to yearly checkups at the dentist (or more often if possible).
It’s very common to develop tartar, and getting rid of that makes brushing more effective, and can also help make your teeth look more nice.

Also, be thorough when flossing. In the beginning, your gums may easily bleed and be sensitive. This can be a sign of inflammation of the gums. If left untreated you can get a gum disease that eventually makes your teeth fall out if left untreated. Luckily, it’s very easy to get rid of gum inflammation. You just wanna get at it with the flossing, and continue even if it feels uncomfortable and bleeds. Finish off with a mouthwash. Everytime you do this, you’ll feel less pain and see less blood, which is a sign that the inflammation is almost gone. Remember, keeping the gums healthy is also an important part of dental hygiene!
