I'll keep this story short as possible as its quite a long rant.
Key info:
• got braces off on Thursday
• no prior problems with jaw
• reccesed maxilla meaning I have small airway
• airways restriction leads to grinding

Thursday morning - got my braces off at the orthodontist, as I was walking to the train station I was feeling my teeth with my tongue and felt something strange on my bottom right incisor.
I was slightly confused because it felt sharp so I waited until I got home to check the mirror.
What I had was a tiny indentation that looked like it had been smoothed down. (I think I only noticed it because my teeth were sensitive after getting braces off)

At that point I just thought it was standard damage but wasn't too bothered because it's not noticeable and doesn't look bad.

Saturday morning - I was finishing off a can of tuna when a bit got stuck on the back of my tongue. I had to get it out with my fingers (this revealed a new problem). I had my mouth open really wide for around 20 seconds to get the tuna out and at the end I had a really bad pain around my jaw for a whole minute, it was quite bad so I had to hold my head in a towel to handle it. From then onwards my right masseter felt discomfort when tensed or when chewing (the pain has gone now)

Last night - maybe 3-4am (my estimate) I woke up suddenly and felt my teeth grinding and at the moment I woke up there was a big grind on the worn out tooth where my jaw went from left to right, it was quite loud as well. I also felt tension in my masseters as well.

Now in the present - I was thinking about that and how that's what caused the wear on my tooth. So that's why I'm writing this.

The bad news is self explanatory but now for the kinda good news.

I can tell this to my orthodontist to see if he refers me to anywhere for marpe, the reason being that grinding is a result of airway struggles when sleeping so if I pair this with other info I have I should have a solid case for marpe to expand my airway. If I can get marpe to expand my maxilla not only my looks but also my quality of life will skyrocket and that is what I'm looking for, BALANCE IS KEY:Ghost:

Key key points if you didn't read full thing:
• on Thursday found a worn down spot on my incisor

• on Saturday I felt immense jaw pain when holding my mouth wide for around 20 secs

• last night I woke up to myself grinding my teeth leading to finding the root cause of the worn spot on my tooth.

• this morning I felt tension in my masseters after waking up.

• Present this adds to my marpe case that I can tell my ortho

So much for keeping it fucking short

mouth guard might help

I think u openeing ur mouth and causing that pain is separate from the teeth grinding. Can u comfortably close ur jaw and let ur teeth rest without discomfort?

I can do everything without pain now, it's all gone. I thought it could be linked to my masseters having constant stress on them by grinding in my sleep.

Edit: could be bruxism, involuntary clenching, grinding, or gnashing of teeth, occurring while awake or asleep. Primarily driven by stress, anxiety, or sleep disorders like apnea, it can cause severe tooth wear, jaw pain.

Since you can do everything without pain it rules out tmj. It’s probably to do with ur massestir stress as you said, just wear a mouthguard or mouth breath at night, mewings cope anyways

When I mouth breath at night I wake up feeling like a mummy. If I can get marpe to expand my airway then it's a win but if not I'll have to wait until I'm an adult and pay for Airway expansion:what:
