People say, 'Oh, we have small jaws because of diet,' but here's the hard truth: every time I see a photo of someone from the 19th century, a time when everyone practically lived off the land and ate whatever they grew or hunted, they had the smallest jaws ever. I'm revisiting a photo archive of the small town I grew up in, deep in the country, where people still live off the land. The nearest large town is three hours away, and it has a population of only 9,000 people. As I revisit these photo archives, I notice that these people look just like us today, some even with less ideal jaw and bone structure, and these photos were taken in the 19th century. I have literally never seen a photo of someone from the 19th century who looked good
