• Make simple syrup: Combine the sugar and 1 cup of hot water in a small pan or heat-safe container. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves, then let it cool.

• Squeeze the lemons: Roll the lemons on the counter to soften them, cut them in half, and squeeze out the juice. Remove any seeds.

• Mix everything: Pour the fresh lemon juice and the cooled simple syrup into a large pitcher.

• Add cold water: Stir in 5 to 6 cups of cold water. Taste the mixture and add more water or sugar if you prefer it tarter or sweeter.

• Serve: Add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses and garnish with lemon slices. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
