reduced cheekbone size, made cheekbones not have such vertical height, added more jaw width and some chin breadth. Now he no longer looks like his face is composed of a pair of giant cheekbones with some features slapped onto them while he still looks as sharp.

why didn't you just increase his jaw to see how that looks first? you don't prove much if you improve his face that much in other areas.

Even with an even more wide jaw it just looks like the cheekbones take up the entire face if they are left as they are. And I only reduced them a bit, mostly vertical width.
