I'm not really NT. Never have been. It doesn't matter whether or not you're NT when it comes to dealing with the locals. Within the expat bubble it does, but I don't care. I've always flouted the status quo and imposed on people I rub the wrong way. Ironically enough, that kind if behaviour has always won me many admirers. Most people in real life either love me or hate me. I've never met too many folks who have been neutral.
