Imagine developing highly complex cities, bureaucracy, engineering, astronomy etc while being almost completely isolated from any other developed civilization, and also living in a very inappropriate land for social development(almost no domesticable animals, few domesticable plants, highly dense forest etc)

The aztecs isolation was the biggest reason for their fall against the spanish. They had no immunity against european diseases, no horses, low warfare experience(due to no other great empire in the continent) and few resources or instructions to build more complex weapons. Still, it was a very impressive civilization, a true miracle of mankind.

Of course jealous whites had to ruin it. Brought the plague with them too, the dirty neanderthals

No impressive civilization for their zero knowledge of gunpowder.

Too bad most of them died from diseases spread by colonizers.
Europeans used to only bathe once a year and their lack of hygiene was one of the reasons for the plague killing millions. They were like the Indians of their time

Chinese invented gunpowder. Europeans were busy fighting religious wars with each other

they were isolated, how would they know gunpoweder? fireguns were built throught an exchange of information between lots of different civilizations, and still it took centuries for it to be effectively used on battlefield

There is a romanticism with the Aztecs. They were cut down in their infancy(the duration of their existence is only 100 years) and so utterly destroyed that we are left with more questions than answers. But no doubt if left on their own devices they would've unified center Mexico given another 100 years ngl

yeah, the other crazy thing is that it was a very young empire, it makes things even more impressive...they built all of that shit one century while being completely isolated

Unfortunately, They fell prey to a weak ruler(Moctezuma) the jealousy and fear of their neighbors, a prophecy, and of course, rampant disease and depopulation that came alongside the technology and focus of Cortez and the Spanish. These are problems that even the most powerful civilization can fall prey to if they come together as a perfect storm.
They were, however, very, very bloody and warlike. The fact that Cortez was so readily able to find native allies , in this case, demonstrates that they probably were not well loved by their neighbors for understandable reasons. This may well have eventually led to their downfall anyway, even without Cortez or other European involvement.
