They literally don’t. They are conscious of their own identity. Their own ethnic groups formed not by mixing with us. They mixed with IVCp peoples, not directly with SAHG/AASI like our ancestors did. We aren’t talking about individual people.
Yep Pashtuns are very aware about their own identity and roots . Unlike curries

Yeah jat identity emerged later but . The things align. Because malhis is tribe/clan of jat . And its like that different clans of jats stelled in different regions for example you will see all the villages about 10- 15 villages of same clan located near each other.

And in porus region the dominant clan was virk . And even tody virk is considered premium clan among jats so yeah he was virk jat . ( source i just made it up ) :feelskek:
But Porus’ actions and life are associated with warriorhood, so he would be a Rajput. Whereas Jats are associated with pastoral and agricultural lifestyles. It doesn’t fit Porus’.

You can’t compare modern-day populations with the OG populations. There’s a gap of more than a thousand years between these Virk Jats and Porus.

Look at Punjab, it’s a melting pot. Nawaz Sharif is ethnically Kashmiri but considered Punjabi because his migrated to Punjab perhaps a few centuries ago. :hnghn:

It’s actually a lot for someone like me. I am not directly related to the Aryans like most South Asians are. Because I don’t have R1a as my Y-DNA.

I asked Google’s AI.

King Porus was neither Rajput nor Jat, as he lived in the 4th century BCE (c. 326 BCE), long before the Rajput identity emerged in the medieval period (6th to 12th centuries CE) or the Jat identity consolidated in later eras.

You are right but they existed they just adopted different identities later .

He was from purewal tribe which later emerges as jat clan

Yeah, that’s the same argument I had here, about his lifestyle being that of a Rajput.

And mods themselves can’t read other PMs. Maybe the owner can. :p Got something to hide?

Having inherited their Y-DNA, of course.
that shit is just random you had way more ancestors with different haplos but what you got is just random from them. you are the direct descendant of them anyway

That’s not how it works. That would make me an indirect descendant, not a direct descendant. I have a different paternal and maternal haplogroup, the ones not associated with Steppe populations.

why don’t we just call him panjabi and move on lol . Panjab divided alot already so yeah
But calling him Punjabi would also be wrong, wouldn’t it? Because Punjabi identity formed later as well. How about Proto-Punjabi? :sneaky:
