I feel like NDEs are simply just chemicals being released in the brain. When we die, our brain activity dies too. That's when we enter a permanent state of nothingness. Just my personal view despite being Islamic.

nothing (absence of something) cannot turn into something as it precludes the absence of something. if you consider yourself 'something', then it's only rational to believe that what happens after you die will be something, and not nothing
