This show only had 1 good season and it was season 1. After the breaking bad writer left, it fell off so hard. Im gonna trust my instinct next time and quit early. The story has no consequences, its extremely bloated with filler and the writing is just terrible.

A non porn post congratulations fella

Here is a checklist to help you identify if a show is about to waste your time:

1. The "Status Quo" Reset (The biggest Boys red flag)

If a season finale ends with a massive shift, but Episode 1 of the next season finds a way to put everyone back in their original positions, quit immediately.

• The Sign: The protagonist has a chance to kill the villain but doesn't because of a "moral epiphany" or a freak accident.

• The Trap: This means the writers have no ending planned; they are just dragging it out for the paycheck.

2. Escalating Shock vs. Escalating Stakes

In Season 1, the stakes were tactical and personal. In later seasons, as seen in the leaks from image.png, the "stakes" are just more gore, like the Deep being killed at the start or Homelander murdering random innocents.

• The Sign: When the "big moments" of a show start becoming about disgust rather than suspense.

• The Trap: If the writers think "gross" equals "edgy," they’ve run out of actual ideas.

3. The "Deus Ex Machina" Setup

If a show introduces a "magic bullet" (like the virus mentioned in image.png) that can solve all the characters' problems, the tactical writing is dead.

• The Sign: A new plot device is introduced halfway through the series that conveniently ignores the established rules of the world.

• The Trap: This is lazy writing. As you noted, the show stopped being tactical when it started relying on "V" injections and biological weapons to win fights.

4. Character "Flanderization"

This is when a character is reduced to a single, annoying trait.

• The Sign: In The Boys, this happened when the Deep became just "the guy who talks to sea creatures" (even a shark voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) rather than a complex, pathetic villain.

• The Trap: When characters stop making logical decisions and start acting like caricatures, the emotional weight is gone.

5. The "Spin-off" Dilution

If the show starts spending time setting up other shows, your time is being stolen to build a "cinematic universe."

• The Sign: Like the leak mentions Soldier Boy's fate being left for Vought Rising or Gen V characters showing up to save the day, the main story is no longer the priority.

The "Rule of Three": If a show hasn't fundamentally changed its world by the end of Season 2, it never will. If you’re a writer at heart, trust your gut—if you think, "I could write a better version of this," you’re probably already more invested in the story than the actual writers' room is.
