If you are kinda ND like me and enjoy people watching when your are bored, you will notice yourself actively seeking proof of the bp, acting as a form of confirmation during observation (of others) which damages the entire premise of this pass time, and can be potentially damaging mentally.
The other day on the beach, I saw a dude and a girl that seemed to know e/o from before run into each other on accident. For context, they were both bang average, looksmatched. They kinda passed by e/o by but the guy called her name so she kinda stopped and half-turned around to talk to him. The entire convo the guy was talking and she was nodding along but her body was facing other way/body language wasn't showing much interest. During this "people-watch" I noticed myself fixating on the fact the girl was turned around to prove to myself that she's innately uninterested because she is hypergamous (by focusing on her body language), overlooking the fact she was smiling at the guy, talking back and not giving exclusively 1-word answers, and could have been in a rush, or whatever.
Essentially, the bp made me look for and expect the bad in her, which defeats the point of people watching for the sake of observation and would provide/self-fulfill external evidence for a more pessimistic outlook on life.
