Plato’s allegory of the cave is about people living inside a cave and watching shadows on a wall. (already descrbing this org)
they believe the shadows are real but they do not know that the shadows are only created by objects moving in front of a fire.
Plato’s idea is that people can sometimes believe something is true without knowing the full reality.
today’s “cave” could be mainsteam media eg tiktok instagram blah bah lah. The things we see online, in the news and on television could be like the shadows on the wall.
They may only show us a small part of reality, but we can start believing they are the whole truth because we see them so often.
Could we be living in Plato’s cave by choice? Social media constantly shows us information, opinions, and images that influence how we think.
remember when people could spend time just thinking, imagining and daydreaming?
Today it feels like people are always surrounded by information and entertainment.
